Windows Vista kinda sucks, kinda rocks.

If you don’t know by now, Windows Vista is widely known to be the worst operating system ever. At work, i was helping out setting up a game footage capturing station (take video footage of live video game play for game demos, showing clients what their ads look like in xbox games). The key was to get it in HD so that the final video that goes to the client will have a really high quality. Now after the station was all set up, i began capturing footage and once i got what i needed, i began editing.

Now windows movie maker is a simple, clean, easy to use program. I edited footage in it within a few minutes. Very convenient! Only: it doesn’t feature HD capability in the regular version of vista. Now some people might argue to use adobe premiere but unless you have a very very powerful machine, the HD editing in adobe premiere sucks horribly. It runs super super slow and choppy. Back to the drawing table.

After some research i discovered that Windows Vista Ultimate and Home Premium both feature an advanced version of windows movie maker that handles up to 1080pi HD. Great. Now i just needed to get a copy. here is where vista sucks: you have to download special software that will determine whether or not your version of vista can be upgraded to vista ultimate. What the fuck ? I have to get software to tell me if my software can be upgraded to a higher version of itself ? That’s just ridiculous. After some chasing the tech guy though we got a copy of vista ultimate, installed it, and it opened my video project from the old version no problem, and voila, had some added export settings and i was able to publish the movie within 60 seconds in HD quality.

Bottom Line: Vista Ultimate is great for on the fly HD editing, nothing too fancy, but very effective. But getting there sucks. Thus, Windows Vista kinda sucks, kinda rocks.

The best shower cleaner ever!

So for years i’ve been using SCRUBBING BUBBLES to clean my shower. Basically spray the stuff on, wait for about 15 mins and then go back in and scrub the shit out of it forever and then rinse. Usually would take two applications and just a lot of arm muscle to scrub down the sliding door, walls, and shower floor. So last night i decided it was time again, since my roomie doesn’t do squat around the house and i wanted a clean shower. And what happened ? Fresh out of scrubbing bubbles. So i decided to use the lysol with bleach cleaner, 4-in-1, that i use for the kitchen and stuff around the apartment that needs cleaning, including the bathroom (not shower). This is what it looks like:

I sprayed down the entire shower, went back to my room and came back 15 mins later. The thing with this product is that the fumes are rather harsh so try not to breathe too heavily while using. I turned on the shower to rinse off and what happened ? It was super clean, and even took care of grime on the shower floor that i thought was there permanently. I’m not one to endorse, but hey, if a product is great, it’s great. This shit is awesome!!! I can highly recommend it! FUCK SCRUBBING BUBBLES!!! They suck. Get the lysol 4-in-1 and get on with your life ( i should be hired for the commercials, not those overweight housewives).

Touch Clothing shows Brooklyn Pride with their new Tee!

The Brooklyn clothing company Touch Clothing (www.touchcrew.com) has released a simple, clean design for Brooklynites to show their home pride. I like it because it’s catchy, and it totally emphasizes the feeling that a lot of Brooklyn inhabitants have, whether you’re from here, lived here for a while or just arrived. Brooklyn has a very unique flavor and there is no need to roll into the city anymore to experience NYC. Actually Brooklyn seems to have a much better sense of community, tolerance and home pride than Manhattan could ever have. But i digress. A simple tee with a great statement. Pick it up at www.touchcrew.com and support a local clothing company. Trust me, rocawear does not love you. But Touch might ;)

Braving the sea of identity.

Life is not about finding who you are. It’s not a constant search that never ends. It’s about finding who you want to be, crystallizing the role you decide to play, and riding it out. Sticking with it.The hard part is not trying to find who you are, it’s sticking to who you believe you should be, no matter what.

Hence the buddhist belief that there is not way to happiness but happiness is the way, only translates into happiness coming from determining your place and the satisfaction deriving from fulfilling that position to the fullest. It might not always be easy but it’s a hell of a lot more rewarding than constantly being uncertain about who you could be.

It’s not about listening or searching, it’s about setting a goal and sticking with it. Not being passive but being in charge. You can’t always be perfect and you can’t always be right. But you can be who you are and not succumbing to outer forces or the excuse of confusion about one’s identity. Be yourself rings true in a take no prisoners approach and having the guts to be your own moral and ethical utopia.

Once you accept that you can truly live because you are not floating anymore – you are steering.
